4th day: Guildford

Date: 11th June 2008

Today walked to Surrey Uni, joined hubby for lunch at the park, enjoy the view then walk to the town. Supposed to join a group walk around Guildford but missed the group as Man came out late for lunch. I also missed the row boat along the river as the place closed early. End up me shopping around the town again. Bought dinner from Mark and Spenser market and we had dinner in the room.

A Walk to Remember

Tunsgate square, another shopping mall selling beutiful furnitures and lots more

This is the castle: William the Conqueror built castles in all the important towns to prevent rebellion and to strengthen his hold on the country. Guildford would have been chosen because it was the only town in Surrey (apart from Southwark) and later became the county town. It was also on an important route between London and the south coast and the west of England. The first structures at the castle would have been the motte, or mound, surrounded by a ditch, and an adjoining bailey, defended by a wooden palisade. The bailey boundary ran along Castle Street, South Hill, the edge of what is now Racks Close and along a line parallel with Quarry Street but to the east.

The museum: Founded in 1898 and now houses the largest collection of archaeology, local history and needlework in Surrey. There are facilities for children and a shop stocking a range of local history books and gifts.

The Guildhall: Is a 16th and 17th century building of great historic interest. It used to be a courtroom and council chamber. The ground floor is of Tudor origin. The building houses civic plate, including many rare items. The Classical front of the building is dominated by a magnificent bracket clock made in 1683.

Guildford House Gallery

p/s: Hi ma sorry for not replying your message, anyway saw your comment on the first post..thanks. Saw Damia in the video this morning she seems ok. Hope the fever won't get anymore higher. Missing everybody in the house especially my two little princesses.

Abeille House

I've found some pictures from Man's camera on the first day we arrived. The place we stayed called "Abeille Guest House" is an Edwardian style home built in 1896, its like a 4 star hotels with an english style. It is a very comfortable place. The town centre can be reached within a few minutes walk and also a walking distance to Surrey uni's. The owner are Mr and Mrs Nowak, they're very friendly couple. Mr Nowak prepares our breakfast every morning. Some pictures of the house.

Second day: Guilford and London

9th July 2008, Tuesday, Guildford 9am
Places visited: Guildford town and Madame tussaud's

We started our day with an English breakfast. It's cold in the morning. We had croissant's, cereals and some pisang tanduk(hahaha...believe it or not). Supposed breakfast served with Bacon's and all the meaty food but then being a muslim here we just prefer bread and cereal and some fruits...that will do. After breakfast we decided to walk to the uni instead of driving, walk with hubby to the uni and continue my day shopping in Guilford town.... really crazy shopping here. In the afternoon drove to London and snap snap snap in Madame tussaud's. I realize something if you want to shop for a gift go to Petticot Lane is much much cheaper. I saw this London tray at patticot Lane it was just about 1 pound compare to the normal shops here they are selling from cheapest 2 pound to 8 pound and that is about 7 pound different.

Missing Qistina and Damia so so much ..spoke to them this morning, Qistina seems ok...saw Damia sleeping from the video..really hope she's fine.
